Character Name: Hiei
Canon: Yu Yu Hakusho
Canon Point: 2nd Demon World Tournament in Eizou Hakusho OVA
Background/History: Hiei Wiki
Personality:
Born as a cursed child, Hiei led a path of loneliness and power, seeking every way to it He would flaunt his precious stone to draw enemies and then kill them.

At first glance he is seen as a rather cruel and heartless murderer who could care less about others and more about himself. His trust for demons and humans alike was nonexistence. Hiei trusted a group of bandits in the past, seeing them as almost family, but they shunned him because they feared him. After that event, Hiei had a hard time trusting others. There was a loathing darkness in his heart for a long time. During times when no demons dare approached him because of his immense power Hiei allowed himself to indulge in what little happiness was offered by his mother's tear stone that was given to him when he was still a baby. The stone gave him a sense of peacefulness, calmness as if it took all his pains and sorrows away. He valued it very much, but these notions were hidden when he was with others. Emotions made him weak, thus he severed them.

When he lost the stone, he realized how important it was to him, hence sacrificing his power for a Jagan, because the pain he endured was nothing compared to losing the only link he had to his mother and supposed younger sister. He endlessly searched for it for a long time before he realized he need another type of power to get his stone back. He sought out the demon surgeon Shigure. Shigure forced Hiei to tell him something that would be worth his interest in order for Hiei obtain the Jagan. The only time Hiei told his life story, was to Shigure. Hence, Shigure finding interest in that with the only rule that aside finding his stone, he was also unable to tell his sister that they were related. Hiei was fine with that, because he already chose not to tell her to begin with.

The process was almost unbearable. The pain was beyond comprehension and due to the surgery, Hiei had lost all the power that he had obtained. With that, he recovered and wanted to leave, but Shigure had stopped him and taught him a few things to survive the world with the sword. It is unclear to how Hiei feels about Shigure but he owed the man for giving him the Jagan and teaching him swordsmanship in which he adapted and turned into his own. Perhaps, there was some respect for this man named Shigure that Hiei had learned from. Hiei's personality did not change much during this time. He remained the same, distant and cold demon, and finally finding the island of the ice apparitions (Koorime) but he did not kill them because he felt they were already dead, frozen as the land they lived in.

He didn't seek revenge for his mother, nor did he kill Rui. He simply knew that the people here were set for destruction, thus he left without caring about destroying the ice apparitions and the world they lived in. His search led to human world in which he quickly acted, engaging in a fight with the younger Kurama. After being injured and taken care of by the former thief, he wanted to do something else. He along with Kurama and Gouki, raided the Reikai vault for the three items of darkness. It was shown more of how he was distrustful of others and how betrayed he felt when Kurama turned on him, but because he knew that Kurama was dangerous, he did not engage with the fox demon. Betrayal was something he would not easily forget, especially when Kurama also got in his way when he was trying to kill off Yuusuke. Kurama handicapped Hiei for the time being and despite all that, Hiei had shown throughout the series that he had a lot of trust and respect towards Kurama, regardless of what had already happened.

After his raid of the Reikai vault and ending up as a lackey for Reikai. Hiei went through a rather slow yet progressive change in himself. His ambitions were not simply just for power or to be the strongest demon around. It still was a goal that he wanted to pursue power, but he developed a sense of humanity that he never had before. Despite his constant coldness and rudeness towards his companions he actually does care about them more than he lets on. It was shown that after leaving the group during the Sensui Arc, Hiei returned to assist Yuusuke when Sniper attempted to kill Yuusuke using his territory. Hiei managed to avoid killing Sniper and fighting Yuusuke in which led him to follow Yuusuke back and rejoining his companions in the fight to save humanity. He slowly and gradually opened his eyes to the human race by learning about humans. Hiei only acknowledged them but had not accepted them completely. His distaste for the human race slowly dispersed as he spent long days in the Ningenkai. He would rather keep to himself than talk to others.

He often made it a habit to insult people. Most people were targets to his snark comments, such as Kuwabara. Kuwabara always got angry with Hiei for insulting him Hiei saw him as an easy target of the crew, so he liked to poke at Kuwabara's nerves for his own amusement. His relationship to Kuwabara didn't seem to be such a great one but Kuwabara was an invaluable ally that he would never admit, but would protect just as he and Kuwabara, and Kurama tried to kill Sensui knowing they were no match for the overpowered Sensui. Hiei was willing to kill Sensui because he had killed Yuusuke. This proved how valuable Hiei's allies/friends are to him, even if he frequently hid it. Hiei just like Kurama, Kuwabara and Yuusuke would sacrifice himself for his companions and there was no denying that he would conveniently show up when he was needed.

It is obvious that he also values family. Despite his neutral reactions towards his twin, Hiei actually spent a large amount time watching and protecting her as well as lowering his violence levels when he's around her. When anyone did threaten his only family, he would definitely not give a second thought before killing the person. He's extremely protective as it is clear. He might treat her with a cold shoulder sometimes, but he did it for her own good. He didn't believe that she would accept him even though she probably would have. After all the girl desperately searched for her only brother day in and day out. As many times as he said he does not care for the Ningenkai, he saved it just as many times. He often never admitted to caring, but secretly he does. Hiei would only do things that would benefit himself. Most of the time it would mean that he was getting something in return like halving a sentence or some form of power. He doesn't make it a habit to save people and only does it when he has no other choice.

He's rather blunt with everything. He didn't sugar coat his words when he spoke. and often said things as they were told. If the enemy was weak they're weak if they're strong they're strong. People with interesting abilities intrigue him and he might use that as a reason for even speaking to these people in general. Underneath all that tough skin he's pretty much a huge sap regarding people he has been close to or spent most of his time with his companions. At one point during the Three Kings Saga, Hiei came to a conclusion that he had nothing left to live for that there was nothing else he could do with his life, so he would gladly give it up. Though, have his abrupt resurrection thanks to Mukuro, Hiei has aimed to do something different in the end, but one day he did aim to win the Makai Tournament and be king of all demons.

He wasn't that much different from his companions. The thing he shared with his companions was a bond and an understanding that couldn't easily be severed. He likes a good fight, and he fights fairly. He didn't use cheap tricks, at least not after Yuusuke pawned him. Hiei also disliked doing things that were beneath him. He has his own pride to conserve. Hiei was a proud demon despite his disposition. He didn't cheat his way to a win and gained his own right and name through his own abilities. He had sacrificed so much to gain so little, yet he seemed to be quite content with himself. Hiei learned a lot of things during his journey, like morals, and codes of honors, almost similar to Kuwabara,'s but much more basic. He never liked people telling him what to do, or people telling him to kill them. Hiei followed no one's orders and he seemed to show that much during the series. There had to be some sort of bargaining chip for him most of the time for him to agree on anything.

Abilities/Powers:
Demon Speed: Being a demon, Hiei move faster than the human eye and even faster than most demon eyes. His speed is truly remarkable and allows him to create teleporting movements with his speed as well as brief projections of himself to confuse the opponent. He moves so fast that it takes a lot of time and perception for one to be able to pierce him, hence taking longer than it should to scratch him in battle. His speed also adds to the deadliness of his swordsmanship.

Demon Strength: Hiei is considered a S Class demon, the highest class that demons and humans could achieve. It is said that S Classes are strong that their strength could annihilate a large area. They are rare types of demons that even Spirit World was unaware of them. It is also mentioned that A Classes have a hard time achieving this level. It’s a rare level of power that only a handful of demons possess. This also means when Hiei releases his full demonic strength and powers, he could level a large portion of property. With that being said, his supernatural abilities are achieved by hard work and strong will.

Immunity: Obviously being half Hi Youkai, Hiei is immune to fire. He quickly absorbs it as it is thrown at him which is the same for both cases with Zeru and his Koukuryuuha. Hiei is a true flame master even if he is a half breed. So to speak, he is immune to fire. He is also part Koorime, giving him the immunity to ice. Even though he does not use ice powers, and never proven canonly that he had any, but Hiei did not freeze to death when Seiryuu tried to freeze him with his ice. It had little or no effect on Hiei as a being whereas it completely got Byakko without a second glance. It is the luck that he is half and half that he was able to withstand a lot before he could be turned to ice or burned to a crisp.

Sword Play: It is his most prized skill and his most used skills. Despite being able to fight with his fists and feet, he is even deadlier when using his sword. Hiei has swung a sword since he was a young toddler, and saw nothing but bloodbaths on his paths. His swordsmanship increased tenfold after his Jagan implant and some tips from the Youkai Surgeon, Shigure. Hiei's sword movements are as fast as his speed. Normal humans cannot see these lightning fast movements and it goes the same for lower level demons. These swift attacks are deadly alone and used multiple times can clearly end an enemy's life. His skills are so great with his sword, he is also able to pierce through flesh of others, and damage not internal organs for example: Hagiri, Kaname (Sniper). The Doctor Kamiya specifically said: "It completely missed every vital organ and muscle. I wouldn't say the sword 'stabbed' you, it really just slipped through. I've treated hundreds of people but I've never seen anything like it." Hiei's swordsmanship is one of a kind. Hiei can create as many as sixteen slashes during his movements. It would have increased dramatically since his fight with Seiryuu.

The Jagan Eye (邪眼): Hiei also has an implanted eye called the Jagan on his forehead. It is also known as the Evil Eye.
  • It was implanted in him when he was searching for his lost Hiruiseki stone and the Hyouga tribe, that tossed him over the cliff, hence it's tracking abilities.
  • The Jagan allows him to manipulate Level E humans and Level E demons, and demons and humans with very little or no spiritual abilities.
  • He can use them to his advantages as well as read open minds unless there is a mental barrier or an unknown source of power to prevent him from doing so otherwise.
  • The Jagan is often used to lure and assist in summoning the Dragons.
  • Telekinesis is also something he is capable of at certain times. That also includes binding people. It was obvious when Yuusuke tried to overtake Hiei and he used his Jagan's binding abilities to make sure Yuusuke was trapped and unmovable.
  • Telepathy is common for those with the Jagan as well.
  • He can also tamper with memories like hypnosis. It was showed in the last few chapters of the manga when he specifically Jagan eyed a human and fixed his memories and sent him.

Jao Ensatsu Rengoku Shou (邪王炎殺煉獄焦): Or The Blaze-Murdering Purgatory Scorch (Fist of the Mortal Flame in the Anime), a move that summons the lesser 'mundane,' flame of the Ningenkai into one or both of his fists added with his inhuman speed it creates a very faster and unbelievable close range attack that could strike multiple times. The damage isn't as powerful as the others but it will suffice for simple things like destroying solid weapons or punching out giant cement blocks. It works on most demons of any classes really unless they were like Hiei, immune to fire. Another branch off of this attack is a Flamethrower. He has only used this against Bui and it was proven ineffective but it creates a range attack spiraling. A nice view though.

Jao Ensatsu Ken (邪王炎殺剣): Or The Tyrant King's Blaze-Murdering Sword (Sword of the Darkness Flame in the Anime) an attack that he lures the dark flames of Reikai using his demon energy again and channels it into his sword instead of releasing them completely, making it quite dangerous for the smaller youkai and his body. He has a bit of distaste for this attack because of its close relation to Kuwabara's Rei Ken. Though, as time passes, he is able to manifest the energy into a sword like Kuwabara, but there are differences in Kuwabara's Rei Ken and Hiei's Jao Ensatsu Ken. He used this attack a few times and one time he used it once with his sword as an amplifier and the second time against the opponent he managed to create a sword purely from the Darkness Flame.

Jao Ensatsu Koukuryuuha (邪王炎殺黒龍波): Or The Tyrant King's Blaze-Murdering Black Dragon Wave (Dragon of the Darkness Flame in the Anime): It involves Hiei creating a fire dragon from the Makai using his energy as a lure the flames to him and released in the direction of his target or enemy. The dragon at first cannot be controlled directly once released. As the series continues, he is able to summon the dragon without burning his arm and through the events prior to the Makai Tournament; Hiei was seen to be able to summon multiple dragons to defeat the enemy. This summon is only one after the other.

The Jao Ensatsu Koukuryuuha is known to be one of the strongest attacks in the Yu Yu Hakusho World.

Jao Ensatsu Koukuryuuha (consumption/absorption): It is also considered a very powerful attack, only it isn't used on the enemy but the user. Hiei has done something that no other masters of the Jao Ensatsu Technique tried. He consumed the Koukuryuuha into his body, he becomes the Koukuryuuha and that allows him a moment of power. It allows him to use the power to its peak giving him a moment of limited invincibility. It also raises his defenses greatly and giving him a boost of leaping rather high in the air resembling a 'Rising Dragon.' As well as he could shoot flames from his hands and engulf himself in flames to jump high in the air. Though as powerful as it is, the consumption of the Koukuryuuha drains his youki relentlessly and Hiei must hibernate in order to regain his youki back.

Jao Ensatsu Koukuryuuha (Jaganshi Form): This is a Movie Exclusive ability. It allows Hiei to release multiple dragons all at once instead of the usual one. Though, a period of hibernation is required after all that. It drains a lot of energy apparently. The technique in this form was never stated to be mastered or not so we're going to be left in the dark. I'm going to say that it does get mastered because of the point and time I am taking this character from. Feel free to critique me if I am wrong. He only used it once and never again during the second movie. It was against the Netherworld God Raigo. It is considered his most powerful attack.

Jaganshi Form (邪眼師) aka Evil Eye Practitioner: This is a body transformation that turns his skin green and allows rather morbid looking eyes to sprout from every part of his body. It's a rather repulsive appearance. The Jagan at that time will be given more power as well. It's much stronger and more effective than ever. It enhances his usual super human speed, which allows him to blind his enemies with a curse. It allows him to summon multiple dragons at once than the usual one after the other. It's considered a power up most of the time and most likely a form he only took only twice once during the series and once more during the second movie. Hiei relies on his Jao Ensatsu Koukuryuuha technique more often than this one so it is often forgotten.

Astral Projection: This is a manga exclusive technique that Hiei can separate his physical body and his spirit.

Others: He also has the ability to mask his own youki that allows him to not be found by any one of his companions or anyone in particular unless he wants to be found. Even tracking devices, he could confuse with his own energy and lead people off.

Items/Weapons:
- His Katana
- 2 Hiruiseki Stones (One Hiei’s, and the other that Yukina told him to keep.)
- Cloak

Sample Entry: Test Drive Thread
Sample Entry Two:
It frustrated him that he was taken so easily. He didn't like this, not one bit. One second he was minding his own business and the next he was knocked out just like that. He couldn't remember what happened when he got knocked out or who knocked him out. Hiei was not a careless person, so this raised a lot questions on its own.

The half breed looked rather pissed off as he pushed himself off the ground. The air smelled rotten, much more rotten than Makai. There was the air of death everywhere and people were looking at him in ways he would look at them. He simply gave them a flat stare as he ventured his way down the alley. His Jagan glowed, trying to give him answers for his questions. He didn't like be vulnerable. He had to have the upper hand. He refused to be the one that lacked proficient information, so he searched.

He moved as quick as he could, whipping through the city, glancing at everything, picking up everything. There was nothing that told him that he was home and nothing smelled like the Ningenkai. He was pretty damn certain that this wasn't his world, but some other world. He couldn't explain it but it felt as though he had entered an different alternate dimension or world. He couldn't sense his friends and it further annoyed him because of that. He knew they were strong enough to protect themselves but they simply couldn't all hide their Reiki and Youki from him.

His Jagan was good at tracking people and that was what he was doing. He didn't think that they did anything to his Jagan, or his abilities.

"I know you're there."

He mused to the air coldy, "and I know you can hear me," he narrowed his eyes, "So show yourself before I find you," and then give them a slow painful death for what they did to him. He simply wouldn't allow this to happen without breaking them for it. Hiei was determined to find his captives, and figure out what they wanted from him, and then kill them for the wasting his time. He had better things to do than lounge around in a foreign dimension.

"Tch,'" he scoffed after a moment of silence. He wasn't going to get anything out of anyone right now. Even the locals look disinterested and useless. He didn't even bother to go to them for answers. He would shove them up against a wall and demand answers that might not even be real. Considering he could feel the animosity and lack of helpfulness these people had. Not that he blamed them. He didn't like humans and he was sure as hell not going to communicate with one, unless he had no other choice.

Another glare from Hiei directed towards another random resident. They moved quickly out of his way.
